LOS OLIVOS Historic District is located in Phoenix- zip code 85004, on Monte Vista Road starting at 7th Street going west and ending at 3rd Street.
Los Olivos goes back to 1903 when Dwight B. Heard purchased 160 acres of land with the intentions of developing a highly upscale neighborhood. In 1909 Heard subdivided the 160 acres into 32 lot (5 acres). However, that changed when the need for smaller homesites was in demand and the area was replatted to accommodate the market. Ashland Place and East Alvarado were developed as a result of this demand. Alvarado and Los Olivos still were developed on large homesites. As you drive by both Alvarado and Los Olivos, you will be impressed with the architecture of these elegant homes and the lush mature landscaping. Each home is unique in architecture that is not seen anymore in new construction. The homes architecture features the Period Revival styles.
There are 14 homes in Los Olivos which were built between 1900 and 1958 with an average size of 2,844 square feet. The homesites are just under ¾ of an acre.
Just like Alvarado, Ashland Place, and East Alvarado, Los Olivos has an unbeatable location with downtown Phoenix being at its footsteps, light rail and easy access to highways. Of course, there is the Heard Museum, and in very close proximity-Phoenix Art Museum and Burton Barr Library. Alvarado is located just minutes from the Chase Field, US Airways Center, Dodge Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Phoenix Convention Center, plus much more.
